In December 2008, Lexington School District One released the following information:
"LEXINGTON — At its Dec. 16, 2008 board meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees voted to exercise its option to purchase 23 acres on Calks Ferry Road in Lexington.
The district will purchase the property (a portion of the area shown by Lexington County as tax map number 004100-05-072) from Rocky Creek Cattle Farm Limited Partnership for $920,000.
The district plans to build a new kindergarten through grade 5 elementary school with classroom space for 800 students to relieve overcrowding the in the Lexington Attendance Area. The school would open in 2010. This is the first school that will be paid for by the district’s 2008 bond referendum approved by residents on Nov. 4, 2008.
Lexington County School District One grew by more than 800 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 this school year and currently serves about 500 additional students in its 3- and 4-year-old programs. "
The portion of the property purchased is at the approximate address of 504 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington SC 29072 .
As stated above, this will be the first school to be paid for by Lexington's 2008 bond referendum. This elementary school would join the 6 others currently in the Lexington High attendance area including Lake Murray Elementary, Lexington Elementary, Midway Elementary, New Providence Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, and Pleasant Hill Elementary.
